Mission Taiwan 2011 Reflection

 John Wen

Pastor Lin and 10 elementary school principals

Exalting God’s name and His glory are the emphasis of our missions’ focus, not so much on the number of people got saved, “I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols.” said the Lord in Isiah 42:8.

In the end time God repeatedly saying so to have His name exalted over other gods in places like Ligang where fronts world’s richest Buddhist center which has been branching out all over the world including every major city in USA.

Many common ideas about mission are to save people, ours has been focusing on exalting God’s glory. People are touched by our hearty works followed with the foot-washing to each student by our teachers. As our missionary teachers wash each student’s feet, lots of them are touched in changing their perception about God further, and attracted by His love to believe in Him. Our mission is accomplished in exalting His glory.

Still what we have experienced is way beyond our joint effort of 110 brothers and sisters from different churches across the country to lead 2000-plus kids and adults to Christ. In a place many have not heard of Jesus like Erica, one of our teammates, discovered that no one in her class did. For so many coming to the Lord, that has to be God himself touching them before we can outreach.

The other significant impact usually not commonly measured is the spiritual turn around of the local communities caused by the elementary schools which are usually the major forces behind these spiritual changes.  From no school accepting a Christian group 4 years ago to all 10 schools eagerly embracing us, our mission teams has worked wholeheartedly n returning the glory to God from other gods and turn people’s praising to Him from idols(Isa 42:8). All glory be to God.

Joy Tsay, June 26-July 1

Reflection of

Mission Taiwan 2011

Joy Tsay

June 26-July 1

“Acknowledge the Lord, you heavenly beings, acknowledge the Lord’s majesty and power! Acknowledge the majesty of the Lord’s reputation! Worship the Lord in holy attire!” (Psalms 29:1 -2)

A. Experience God’s great calling

This year’s mission is quite different from others in the last 4 years. Early this year when I first received the Taiwan mission announcement of running English Gospel camps in 10 elementary schools for 2500 plus students, I was shocked. Back in 2008 Mission Taiwan team had 20 teammates to do missions for 120 students in two schools, next year in 2009 we had 250 students with 34 missionaries, then in 2010 we had 900 students in 3 schools with 62 missionaries. And now this year we had more than 2500 students in 10 schools, almost all schools of this rural township in southern Taiwan has embraced our English gospel camps.

God is highly exalted again and again in this major idolatry center in Taiwan, where the world’s richest Buddhist mountain located nearby. They have branched out into many major cities like Dallas in this country. We have got the honor to fight back right into their backyard. Praise the Load to use us to do His will in Isa 42:7-8:

“To open blind eyes, to release prisoner from dungeons, those who live in darkness from prisons. The Lord Intervenes.

I am the Lord! That is my name! I will not share my glory with anyone else, or the praise due me with idols.”

I asked Brother John Wen, founder of mission harmony to Taiwan and China (www.missionharmony.com), is this year’s mission getting too big?!

Brother Wen said that this is not my idea, all from God. The principal of the local school we had mission before called all other schools to join the camp, that is quite unusual and it’s the first time ever they pulled together to welcome us into each of their campuses to run a full day camp for a week .

At that time Mission Taiwan team didn’t have anyone signing up yet, but the school trusted us from the past missions, knowing that our God is mighty to accomplish. That’s the faith from an unbeliever our Lord  Jesus especially praised in Matt 9.

God has opened such a wide door, but what can we do to call all His workers? Only pray and pray more for His workers. Finally in April couple CA churches in Irvine and San Diego responded to send two mission teams of 46 brothers and sisters. Later a church in LA sent another team of 5. Till early June, three weeks to mission, we still needed 30 more to reach a goal of 100 missionaries.

God is always faithful to His workers in doing what He pleases.

Out of nowhere an international caring ministry, Operation Care International in Dallas, www.operationcareinternational.org, contacted Brother Wen on going to a mission to China. Actually they had a calling from God during an overnight fast prayer in early March. Through the founder, Susie Jennings’ strong vision and faith, she pursuit God’s will despite initial setbacks and finally was led to Mission Harmony to Taiwan and China just in time. She not only organized an “elite” team, also most amazingly raised a funding of $ 60K to enable Taiwan mission to do a totally blow-out event to exalt God high and called more than 2,000 kids to the Lord.

At the end our Taiwan mission team of 2011 had 110 strong missionaries, plus additional 80 local English translation coworkers.  Praise the Lord for His great faithfulness!

During the final weeks of calling for enough workers, brother Wen encouraged us to pray wholeheartedly from Psalms 103:

“ Praise the Lord, O my soul!  With all that is within me, praise  his holy name! Praise the Lord, O my soul! Do not forget all his kind deeds!”(NET)

God himself will do His will on earth like in heaven. Didn’t Jesus told us:  “.. if you believe, you would see the glory of God?”

B. Learn to share the burden with each other

We must learn to be flexible in doing mission work. I was to team with an American sister, Laura, in leading worship which is our mission’s major theme twice a day, one in the morning and the other in the afternoon, each is 90 minutes long. But a CA sister had a car wreck just days before her departure. Laura has to replace her in another school.  By myself it will be very tough to lead two worships, thank God, a pastor came aboard to share the message to give me the solely needed break.

Facing such a challenging task to lead 165 kids to worship, many of them never heard of Jesus and sang a hymn, earnest prayer is my daily strength to carry me through. I remembered the sound, sweet sleep I had every night soon I hit the bed.

Our teammates’ sharing during the breakfast is my renewing, every morning is new as God promises.

C. Glory be to God

God did it! What an amazing sight to see all 2500 students bused in from all 10 schools to sit in 11 huge tents taking turn in performing the final camp presentation to outreach all parents and the community

Without a prior rehearsal due to our busy camp schedule and 10 different campuses, all 2500 kids and 800 so teachers and parents did perform the grand Finale flawlessly. With our hymns like: Our God is a great, big God, praising high into the sky, God’s glory covered  the whole site, His Spirit filled us, and His name was exalted right atop this Buddhist headquarter mountain.

At the end of the mission we teachers sit down to wash each of our students’ feet to show the love of Jesus for them, while sharing the gospel with them in bidding our farewell to see them next year.

D. Final sharing

God sends us to this same place, a township of 30K people, in Taiwan year after year to proclaim the gospel thru worship in exalting His name in His glory. By providing an lively English learning environment for the local students, we are able to lead them to worship God, teach the Bible and the truth which opened their eyes as they have never seen and heard before in this very idolatry country.

I’m so praising God for his using me to mission Taiwan, thanking Him for giving me the good health, cool weather and the provision through WHBC. I pray that He will continue to use me further to Mission China next year and in the years to come.

 All glory be to God.

Faith, Hope and Love

Mission Trip to Taiwan and China 2011

Laura Juntti
My heartfelt gratitude to each of you who contributed to my ability to go on this life-changing experience. It matured me in my purpose, solidified my walk and made me see, with clarity, this is WHO I am and WHY I was created… Thank you, for your part in allowing me to be used as HIS vessel… I am looking forward to what HE IS going to do next! I am willing and ready! Bless each of you… Lord, YOU KNOW each of their needs, I humbly ask YOU to please PROVIDE: move the mountain or whisper in their ear, guide and make the way… as it is Done in YOU! Thank YOU for bringing them into my life to bless me so that I may bless other’s for YOUR kingdom, and may YOU bless them for their obedience. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen. Believing and standing in agreement with you! The following is a brief summation of my experience and pictures are posted in my albums (there are 2 albums: Taiwan and China) Enjoy the peekaboo into how you were used to make the way, I love you… IT WAS AMAZING!!! :D

I have had some time to decompress, allow root and realize what HE has done in and through me. I experienced many new things and have had some alone time to experience in the States, observe and feel how HE changed me abroad. In summation, I am at rest in Him and who He created me to be and where He has me.

From day one we hit the ground running. We visited two countries and estimate we traveled somewhere in the neighborhood of 25K miles. I averaged 3-5 hours of sleep per night for the 17 days I was there. And it was AMAZING!!! Cannot wait for the next mission trip already…!!!

For your background information purposes we were invited to Asia to teach English. The school students in Taiwan had heard the Name of Jesus but did not speak English to have a conversation. In China they had not heard of Jesus, we were the first to tell them :), and we could have some very basic conversation in English. In both cases, we had translators and used whatever means to communicate with them… creativity came into play! I have a new respect and realize the importance of our words and the impact they have.

Once we arrived in Taiwan on June 23rd, I noticed my Spirit had awakened to a Heightened Level. For the 9 days there, while in prayer, whenever I spoke HIS Name I literally had goose bumps and chills. I liken it to someone being without one of their senses and how their other senses become more heightened, more aware. He IS with us all…I became keenly aware of the process He has each of us in… and all is well. “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands!”

Our first Sunday there we visited an adult and college aged church in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, I was in awe at though we do not speak/sing in the same language, we worship the same Jesus. I could clearly feel I was among the body of Christ who loved Him the way I did, though I had no idea their words. In Beijing, China, I witnessed and experienced the underground church and how we have such freedom in the States. It became clear to me that no matter where we are in the world we have the freedom to choose and to experience Him to whatever level we desire. There is no end or limit to His far-reaching love for us, He loves us all and He is no respecter of persons. We have freedom to live as we choose and to know Him and allow Him into our lives as much or as little as we individually desire, no matter our current life circumstances or the circumstances around us… It truly is a gift… Let us ask ourselves… is there another level??? Can we experience more of HIM in our own lives? What Richness and Beauty awaits… It is right there for us to receive, if we just believe…

The four months leading up to our departure our team prepared for this trip by having overnight 8 hour prayer marathons. This ushered in our love for the children we were so blessed to meet there. I was deeply impacted when I stood in front of them in the classroom, knowing how much I had prepared for that moment. As you know I have not spent much time with children in my life. I was all of a sudden in a sea of them! ;) And BLESSED!!! Our team had a school of 200 little one’s, from 1st to 5th grade, where I was privileged to speak to them and worship with them as a group and was responsible for teaching English to 50 of them in the classroom. In Taiwan Mission Harmony and Operation Care International reached 2,625 children and in China we were blessed with 17 children to share the gospel. Each person was/is a divine appointment, purposed and important to God and for the Kingdom. Each life will touch another… The adults and co-workers we were blessed to serve with so loved the Lord, and I was honored to be there with each of them… many life-long relationships have begun.

I was not raised in the church and recall once visiting a church as a youth when I was about 5 years old. I recall one song… and held on to it until I was saved in ’93. I still remember it to this day. I speak of this because I know we were only in each school, in Taiwan and China for 5 days. We taught them music! We placed songs in their hearts. I know seeds were planted and I fully trust and believe God to water those seeds. My prayer is that He keeps them and places people in their path to develop their walk to know Him and to care for them, Amen.

Without a doubt we showed them His LOVE! We received word from China yesterday that lives have been changed and people transformed. We were asked in China not to speak of our belief. It is against their government to do so. It became possible for us to do so and we took advantage of it! Even the leaders were changed and they have Jesus in their hearts. God did a great work and it was amazing to be a part!

Thank you to each of you, who supported me, encouraged me, believed in me and prayed. I felt you there. Your friendship means the world to me; I am an incredibly blessed woman, filled with love! (Pictures to follow)

For me personally… the overall impact was His Provision. Time and time again He was faithful. Everything was different there. From the language, the toilets, the food, lodging, and, and, and… I was not in ‘control’ nor did we have the normal comforts, yet He continually provided. I was stretched as a person. Everything I had, I gave. He showed me more of what I still haven’t tapped into, and also what is there but not utilized. I felt in complete purpose and rest that I was firing on all levels of all I have ever known and who He created me to be: learning, teaching, talents, creativity, teamwork, trusting, enduring, persevering, patience, joy and love! My prayer is that HE continue to use me in purpose of what and who He has created me to be, that I stay ‘Awake’ and sensitive to be molded into the likeness of His Son, Amen.

“It Is Well With My Soul.”
